NCSSWA is excited to announce that
we will be returning to the Pinehurst Resort for our
2011 Fall Conference.

Conference Highlights
Jim
Raines
calls himself an accidental
academic with the heart of a practitioner. He has over
20 years of experience working with K-12 students. He is
the author of over thirty publications and three new
books published by Oxford Press: Evidence-Based Practice
in School Mental Health (2008); School Social Work
(2010); and Ethical Decision Making in School Mental
Health (2011). Jim is currently the Department Chair,
Health, Human Services and Public Policy at California
State University Monterey Bay.
Jim will present on Ethical
Decision Making in Social Work on Wednesday, 10/2611 at
1:00pm and serve as the Keynote presenter on Thursday,
10/27/11, speaking on Evidence Based Practice.
Ernest
Johnson
has lived and worked in NC for
about a decade. He is a former professor of family
medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine, author of many
papers and books; and has a new book entitled "The
Secrets for Motivating, Educating, and Lifting the
Spirit of African American Males", which will be
available at the conference. At NCCAT, Ernest has
created a new program, The African American Education
Initiative, that aims to help educators, counselors, and
social workers to organize the experiences gained from
their professional development experiences so they can
be more effective in motivating and educating African
American students. Ernest will be our Keynote
speaker on Wednesday, 10/26/11 from 4pm to 6pm.
His topic of discussion will be “Why We Can’t
Wait to Motivate and Educate Our Children”.
